Getting started

Prayhold says it needs Screen Time access. Why?

iOS only lets an app hold other apps through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls). Prayhold asks for "individual" access, which covers your own device only. Without it the app can show prayers but cannot hold anything. You can grant it during setup or later from the Home screen.

Which apps can I hold?

Any app or app category on your iPhone, chosen in Apple's picker. Prayhold never learns their names — Apple only gives it anonymous tokens — so the app shows them using Apple's own icons and labels. Up to 50 apps and 50 categories can be held at once.

Does it work on iPad or Mac?

Prayhold is for iPhone running iOS 26.5 or later. Screen Time holds apply to the device the app is installed on.

Unlocking

How do I open a held app?

Tap the app as usual. Apple's shield appears; tap Pray Now. Prayhold opens with a prayer. Tap I've Finished Praying, and on the Amen screen choose: Not Right Now, or Open for 15 minutes (Pro can choose 30 or 60). The hold returns on its own afterwards.

I prayed, but the app is still blocked.

On the Amen screen, choose "Open for 15 minutes" to lift the hold for that app. If you chose "Not Right Now", the hold stays. If you did choose to open and the shield still shows, close the held app completely and open it again — iOS can take a few seconds to refresh. Still stuck? Open Prayhold once; it re-syncs the hold state every time it comes to the front.

How do I pause Prayhold or remove all holds?

In Prayhold, use Pause Prayhold on the Home screen (and Resume when you're ready), or remove apps under Protected Apps. To remove everything regardless of the app: Settings › Screen Time, and revoke Prayhold's access — iOS removes every hold immediately. Deleting the app also removes all holds.

I want to be redirected to the app after praying.

iOS does not allow an app to open another app after a shield; you return to the Home Screen and tap the app you wanted. This is an Apple limitation.

Prayers

Where do the prayers come from?

Sixty are original prayers written for Prayhold. Twenty are prayers from the Bible, quoted word for word from public or openly licensed translations (World English Bible, British Edition; Reina-Valera 1909; Bíblia Livre), with the reference shown under the text. Nothing is generated on the fly.

Can I change the language?

Prayhold follows your iPhone language and is available in English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. To use a different language for Prayhold only: Settings › Apps › Prayhold › Language.

Can I choose shorter prayers or only Scripture?

Yes, with Prayhold Pro: Settings › Prayer lets you pick the style (Any, or From the Bible) and length (Any, Quick, or Reflective).

Subscription

What does Pro add, and what does it cost?

Holding apps and praying is free without limits. Pro adds prayer preferences, monthly insights, 30- and 60-minute unlocks and protection for more apps. Plans and local prices are shown in the app; billing and renewal terms are on the Terms page.

How do I cancel?

iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions › Prayhold, or Prayhold › Settings › Manage subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the paid period.

I bought Pro but the app says Free.

Open Prayhold › Settings › Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account that bought it. If it still fails, email us with the approximate purchase date — never send receipts with card details.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are made from Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy

What do you know about me?

Nothing. Prayhold has no account and no server; everything stays on your iPhone. Details in the Privacy Policy.
